The Work In Progress: Musings

The next story in my series is Tormented. Everyone in the story is Tormented. The hero and heroine are tormented. Even, the hero’s co-worker is tormented a bit. There is angst, there i Iwill s even physical pain. Just when I think these people can’t take any more there is something else.

The writing process is interesting and different for everyone. I don’t plot everything ahead of time. I am a pantser. I write by the seat of pants, making it up as I go. I know where the story will begin and where it is going to end. I may even have some ideas as to something that will happen along the way. But generally, along the way, the story tells itself.

In writing part 3 of 4 of this series I find that elements of part 4 are coming to mind. Once I am through with this story, I will be ready to move on to the final installment. I will be sad to see their story come to an end but happy to bring their story full circle.

The Power of Music

Sometimes that song comes on the radio and it’s like a kick in the teeth.  You’re taken back to a very specific place and time.  This afternoon it was the deck of a beach house in 1989 sipping an adult beverage soaking up some rays with the man I loved.  Wishing for something that would never happen, wanting the moment to last forever and knowing it just couldn’t.  What’s the song that takes you back and where do you go?

Smart is Sexy

Today is Pi Day.  So thinking about Pi made me think of some of the math nerds I knew in high school.  They turned out to be fabulously successful and incredible men.  I wish I had realized back in the day just how sexy smart really is.  What about you?  What non-physical characteristic do you find most sexy in a person?  A sense of humor?  Brains?  Compassion?  What quality is it that gets your motor running?

Hey Y’all

I’m working on a series of short stories about a couple in Atlanta he’s a tough criminal defense lawyer and she’s a court reporter.  He often rubs her the wrong way but she’s intrigued.  When he’s ready for some changes in his personal life he turns to the petite court reporter who doesn’t say how high when he says jump.   The inspiration for my hero?  None other than Mr. Alexander Skarsgard.  Does it sound like something y’all would want to read?

The Sounds of the Peach State

I have to tell ya’ll when it came to musical abilities God most certainly poured out an abundance of blessings on the Great State of Georgia.    Let’s start with rhythm & blues, Little Richard, Gladys Knight, Otis Redding and the Godfather of Soul himself James Brown.  Ray Charles certainly had Georgia on his Mind (don’t know that he’s from Georgia but man he could sing that song).   There’s Rock, REM, The B-52s, Georgia Satellites, and the Black Crowes.  Then there are my country boys (and Girls) Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Doug Stone, T. Graham Brown, Trisha Yearwood, Jason Aldean and Jennifer Nettles.  

Now ya’ll know I couldn’t list everybody. IF I missed someone you love tell me and I’ll give the props.  Just hittin some highlights.   So let me wrap up by sharing some pics of my favorite sons from my favorite state. 

I think Mrs. Jackson is one lucky lady.   

 

All Travis would have to do would be to start singing the first line of Anymore and I’d be his.
